Why does Recurring Donation validation prevent changing the Account?

What is the reasoning behind the error, ""You can't change the Household Account or Contact on a Recurring Donation that has Closed Opportunities."? We occasionally have donors create a new Recurring Donation (via Classy), and the integration incorrectly creates a new Contact that we need to merge with the existing. This error prevents merging the Account, ie. moving the RD onto the existing record.

    Thank you @Julie Arnzen and @Stan Zizek for your inputs. @Stan Zizek that is exactly my concern too, What will be the after effects of this workaround. There are rollups, validation rules and there could be org specific automations running in the background on both Household and Orginisation account record types and other cascading effects which we need to access.
