We are just now receiving our first corporate matching donations.
Should we send thank you / tax receipt letters to those corps? The paper check info that we receive with these gifts makes it hard to even figure out the correct address to send them to - it feels like they might just vanish into some mailroom somewhere.
What's the best practice out there?

We always thank the donor (whether it's a match or not) - so we thank the corp that sends in the match. That covers the acknowledgement AND the tax requirements if they exist. Finding the address is of course tricky, but once you find it for that corp, thanking should be easy enough. We also thank the person whose donation generated the match. That is trickier and I haven't yet played with how to do this in the NPSP (not currently getting any matching gifts).
