I have been trying to figure out for some time now how to best use the Affiliations package together with the one-to-one account model. We need the functionality to track many relationships with accounts from one contact, and the package seems to work very well for that purpose.
It is however confusing for the users (and for me) to have both Account Name and Primary Affiliation on the Contact Layout, and both Contacts and Affiliated Contacts related list on Account Layout.
I have until now replaced the one-to-one account in Account Name with a real Account when the employer is becoming known for an individual. Can I instead of this leave the standard Account Name field hidden and only add the account as Primary Affiliation? I would then completely remove the contacts related list from Account Layout and rename/treat Primary Affiliation as "Employer".
Is this how it is supposed to be set up? Or if not, what are the drawbacks of not using the standard Account/Contact relationship?
