We recently enabled the salesforce add in for outlook for all our salesforce users.
This enables end users to add contacts, log emails and create tasks via outlook in salesforce.
I noticed when I go to create a task that the task record type is pre selected and I cannot seem to be able to choose a different one, can I change this so that the end user can choose what type of task that they want to create?

I believe this uses the default record type of the logged in user.
By default there is no way to target a task created this way as it doesn't have any indentifers based on the Task source.
Out of the box these tasks will have a blank sub type but if you set a default for this you could then target that field to trigger a record type change too
