How to count events & tasks?

We have cleaned up all events (meetings) and tasks categories and want to track our sales reps acitivities. However, it turns out that Salesforce logs every meeting as a separate ID for every user/contact on in the meeting.

 

So a meeting with 4 people (like 2 sales people in Salesforce and 2 contact persons from the customer) is logged 4 times with 4 different activity IDs.

 

So how to deal with this when counting the unique number of meetings at the opportunity level and/or account level?

    Thanks Usman, we're doing this already in the code, but doesn't solve it.
