I have 2 custom objects (Object A and Object B). As enter a record in Object B, one of the fields (Data1) is related to Object A. However, I would ideally like to add another field in Object B which retrieves information from Object A from the same record as the Data1. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thank you for clarification.
Did you try to create process by using process builder or flow to start after Incident object is created or updated and first check - does employee # match employee # in related Empoyee object and if it's not the same check all existing Employee records and if it finds Employee record with entered employee id save this Empoyee record in Incident record?
