As far as I know...

The standard Account object has two standard address fields:

  • Billing Address
  • Shipping Address

The standard Contact object has two standard address fields:

  • Mailing Address
  • Other Address

These address fields are called "compound" fields, and can be broken down into Street (which is a textarea field with three lines, sometimes referenced as Street1, Street2, and Street3), City, State/Province, Zip/PostalCode, and Country.

--------------------------------------

This Salesforce doc (https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.object_reference.meta/object_reference/compound_fields_address.htm

) states

Account provides for four different addresses. In this case, address field names are prefixed with the type of address, for example, BillingAddress, ShippingAddress, and so on.

Grrr. Why didn't they just list the last two? What are they? And where are they? I don't see any other address fields in the Account Fields list in Setup.

--------------------------------------

If I navigate to Rename Tabs & Labels...

For Account I see these fields:

  • Address
  • Billing Address
  • Shipping Address

and I also see the individual fields for each of those compound fields --. i.e. Street, Billing Street, and Shipping Street. City, Billing City, and Shipping City, etc.

So what is "Address" and "Street" and "City"? And why don't I see this when I view Account Fields in Setup?

For Contact I see these fields:

  • Address
  • Billing Address
  • Mailing Address
  • Other Address

and I also see SOME of the individual fields in those compound fields:

  • I see City, Mailing City, and Other City. Where is Billing City?
  • I see Mailing Street and Other Street. Where is Billing Street? Where is Street?

------------------------

While I'd love to fully understand what I'm missing with standard address fields, my end goal is to come up with the easiest way possible to have two (compound, standard) address fields on the Contact - Billing Address and Shipping Address. I thought I would simply use the Rename Lables feature (Mailing Address would become Billing Address, and Other Address would become Shipping Address). And then I found this mess and wish I could make sense of it.

P.S. Person Accounts are not in use.

    Thanks for the response, Guy!

Do you know where I can see a comprehensive list of standard address fields on each standard object? One of my key questions was when I view "Fields and Relationships" (LEX), why do I see only TWO address fields on Account, and TWO address fields on Contact... yet in "Rename Tabs and Labels", I see more. And why does the SF doc indicate there are FOUR Address fields on Account when I only see TWO in "Fields and Relationships"?

Thanks for the response, Guy! Do you know where I can see a comprehensive list of standard address fields on each standard object?
