Task Record Type is visible (pops up) in Classic but not Lightning. How can I make it appear in Lightning?

    When in Salesforce Classic, when I create an event (or task), this screen comes up.

     

    When in Salesforce Classic, when I create an event (or task), this screen comes up. Then I can continue to create the event.

     

    Then I can continue to create the event.  In Lightning it doesn't ask for this and I get different fields (a different page layout ?).  Does Lightning just default to a record type?
