We are in the process of migrating from Sales & Service to Financial Services Cloud and have been advised: "Salesforce does not allow us to create/update records that are owned by an inactive user. A common solution is to create those as users in the new system simply to capture that historical data and then deactivate them. This is depending on the number of licenses that are available for use as It would have to cover all inactive and active users in the system. Another solution, is to create a text field to capture the inactive user and reassign the actual record ownership to an active user."
Is this still the case, or was this actually resolved with the Winter '21 Release? I've tested with internal records and had no issues with updating those owned by Inactive User...just trying to save myself a lot of work if it can be avoided.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Justin,
It sounds like there was a user permission introuced in a previous release to help address this: Update Records with Inactive Owners. If your user has this permission, then you should be all set.

Thanks,
