How to calculate account penetration

Question

I am interested in having a percentage field in account that will count how many child accounts are current clients vs total number of accounts in the account hierarchy. Is this possible? How?

For instance, if the account hierarchy looks like:

Alphabet

>Google (Prospect)

>>Youtube (Client)

>ABCZZZ (Prospect)

Account penetration = 25%

Yes there is, the Account object has a standard field called Parent Account on it

Hi,   Thats possible but you will need couple of custom fields   Field1 : Number field which count the current clients   Field2: Number field which counts the total accounts in the hiearcrchy   then a 3rd formula field whichis your account penetration field Fiel1/Field2   The big question is how do we populate field1 and field2   you will few options here   Declarative   Code (Apex Trigger)   If you are looking for a declarative solution, use   one of the below apps which allow you to rollup the count of child records   Rollup Helper   Declarative Lookup Rollup Summaries Tool
