Is there a way to mass download Files (as opposed to Attachments)

How can I mass download Files (as opposed to Attachments) from Salesforce ? I can easily use Dataloader.io to download attached documents (e.g. all attachments having a certain text string in their name). But Dataloader.io does not seem to find documents uploaded in Selsforce as Files. How do I mass download Files using Dataloader.io or similar tool?  The Weekly Data Export does contain a folder named "Attachments" but it does not contain the original documents (in this case .xls) , but only strange names in a strange and unknown file format. Can these somehow still be converted to the original .xlsx format?

 

 

Background is we need to be able to download and extract data from hundreds of .xls files stored by different users under different Opportunities.

    One simple app is there on salesforce called "Mass file Download (https://appexchange.salesforce.com/appxListingDetail?listingId=a0N3A00000EcsAOUAZ)". This app Download Multiple Files on a single click. It supports Mass download of Attachments, Files, Static Resource and Documents as a zip throughout the organization on record level.
