Link that works for both internal org and customer community

Question

We are establishing our community and are using QR codes for labeling equipment. We need both internal users and customer community members to scan the same link and have the appropriate record open in the correct place(internal org vs community). When we purchased our licensing I was told this was possible, but now I'm not seeing how. Anyone ever done something like this?

I think QR code will differ for both internal and community user because in community the URL changes a bit.
