We need to throw validation errors on quote for 2 products that cannot be orderered with each other. And we need to throw this error not during Save or Quick Save , but as soon as the selection is done.
What kind of rules can be used for this purpose? Is it possible out of the box?

Validation Rules within the Calculator can only fire on save/quick-save. They're also not compatible with the LArge Quote Experience. If you need to enforce validation earlier than a Save/Quick Save these Products need to be in a bundle together where you can enforce the logic.
