Limit button avaiability on custom object time

I want a button " Send Customer Survey" on any contact useable only if they have do not have a Customer Survey (Custom Object) with a "Last Survey Date" (field) within the last six months from todays date. 

 

So maybe grayed out? 

 

MY goal is to ensure new employees do not overload Contacts with surveys.

    Are you in Lightning or Classic? In lighting. Instead of an action button, you could use a component and make it possible with logic.
