We provide personal financial planning services to families (households), after our client makes payment, we want to track progress we have made in financial planning's 6 step process. Is there any app I need to install to track it?

You might not need a sperate app for this, salesforce will be fine
try and tweak your sales process but implementing process which include
opportunities and right stages to track your progess.
