How do you autopopulate a custom object field with data from a pricebook?

I have tried to create a Price book look up field in the custom object and then create a formula field to set the custom object field, in this case product code, equal to the product code in the price book but it appears that I can only set the field equal to a price book field. The field I need to set it equal to is actually a price book entry field.

Hi Lakisha,

For what I can read seems that the custom object should be related to the pricebook entry object and not to the price book.

Amend the look up.

Add a cross object formula field 3 level deep.
