Chatter feed tracking for Groups

Question

I LOVE the feature of automatically posting to chatter if a field value changes (feed tracking). Now, is there a way to automatically @mention a group if a specific record type's field changes?  Ex: if the Status of a record changes, it automatically posts on Chatter the before and after values.  Can we @mention a group automatically if the record type= "A"?

I don't think so.  That would imply you want to push the post to the group, even if they are not following the record.  I think we'd need "post templates" for that -- to say "when this happens on a record, here is the template I want to use for the post text.     You could log an Idea and see what kind of response it gets.
