Update field on parent object from oldest related child record

We're a membership associatoin, and have membership products that are child records for accounts.  Each membership record references a specific years membership containing a start, and end date for a particular membership type.  We have an Original Join Date field on the account records that's not functioning the way we'd like it to.  We'd like it to be populated based on the oldest membership child records start date field.  And only if that date is older than what's already potentially populated in the field. (some original join dates transferred from previous AMS).  Thanks in advance!

    Sounds like a validation rule or you made the field required after some records were entered. Just update those with a Type first. You could export them with the data loader with a filter (Type equals blank), then update your csv file and update the records with the data laoder.

     

    You should then be able to run DLRS
