We are using the standard Duplicate settings in Salesforce and i have also created a matching rule on the Email address.
We have just changed our sharing to be private on contacts and now it is allowing users to create duplicate contacts, can anyone help at all ?

Hi Jim,
Yes, if you go to set up and find the Duplicate Rule which is not being enforced anymore and edit it; you will see an option to enforce or bypass sharing rules. Select 'Bypass sharing rules' to make the duplicate rule work as it did before!
