Update Salesforce Field from a Button in an Email

I am trying to create an email template that, when received by the customer, includes two buttons, one for "Yes" and one for "No".  This is to determine whether they have been contacted about their request for information.  The recipient would click on the appropriate button, and a field in their Salesforce record would be updated accordingly.  (It will be a checkbox field on the Opportunity.)

 

Right now I know how to create a button in the email using CSS (rather than an image that might get blocked by, in particular, Gmail).  But how do I set up the button in the email to update the field in their Salesforce Opportunity record?

    I have one more question with your suggestion. Do we also need to do authentication before the user can update the fields in the Salesforce?
