apex trigger:when a create record on lead object---update field on salesdaobject

i am new to sfdc...i have two object. one is salesvap under following fiels--no of leads,no of contacts,create year ,create month, salesrep....another object ---lead std object..

 

my question is--when a record create  on lead stdobject---automatically populate -no of lead field on salesvap object....pls help me

    This will require an Apex trigger. Unless you have development experience in Apex or other languages like C#, Java, etc, this will not be a simple undertaking.
