How do I mass change articles from online to draft?

Our company is new to SF.  We implemented SF about 8 months ago.  The Knowledge team has now decided that the Knowledge article URL's being the title is too long.  They want me to change the URL to just be the article number.  I’ve created a workflow rule that populates the URL field with the article number but that only triggers when an article is created/modified.  We already have about 22,000 articles created that I need to adjust the URL on.

 

 

 

I was able to export all the knowledge articles via the Data Loader and simply copied the article number into the URL column but when I try to update the records with the Data Loader it says that online articles cannot be modified. 

 

 

 

This brings me to my question(s):

 

 

  1. Is there a way to mass move all of our articles from “Online” status to “Draft” status? 
  2. If question 1 is not possible is there a way to do a mass modification of the articles which will cause my WF rule to trigger?

    In lightning, you can batch Archive then Restore published articles directly from list view. Once they are restored, they become drafts.
