send email when opportunity stage duration exceeds value

I want to send the opportunity owner and supervisor an email when the stage duration exceeds a certain value.

 

I am not sure how to do this, since it isn't based on the opportunity being edited, so a workflow doesn't seem to be the answer. Moreover, the salesperson manager does not seem to be an availble option in the email alert tool.

 

Ideas?

    +1 MattB although there is one caveat.  

     

    You can only use the ISCHANGED(StageName) function if the WFR Criteria is set to : created, and every time it’s edited  

     

    However if you do that  then you cannot add time-dependent workflow actions.  Also known in the Salesforce Admin World as the "No Soup For You!"
