There is no specific document where salesforce states it is retiring Classic.
However, going forward they would stop supporting classic. (Stop supporting , means you will not see any new features or enhancements done for the classic version, nor they will fix any feature if you have any issues.)
Slowly, they would force users to move to lightning but they will not shut down classic.
