Hi everyone,

Please excuse my ignorance, as we are a new SF org.  I'm hoping the community can help me out here with a little clarity.

We are a nonprofit, and gather "leads" from volunteer events, previous donors, online lead generation methods, etc.  I'm currently assigning those leads via import to the appropriate staff person on our team.  However, the next step is what's a bit confusing for us.

Would it make sense to create several custom campaigns (for each group of leads).  i.e. 2017 Volunteer Conversion campaign, 2017 Lapsed Donors Campaign, etc.?

I'm familiar with how to create the campaigns and add the leads to the campaign as members, however, I'm foggy on what happens next within the campaign.  Is the campaign object what actually runs your "moves management" process?  If so, how?  If not, where am I going wrong?

I think, if you don't know how to use Leads and Campaigns, that getting through the basics in Trailhead would be a real boon. There is a lot of information in there that would help you get comfortable with things llke Campaigns and Leads. It also helps concrete the language that you are using when asking questions in the community.

Generally, the Campaign Object is used for tracking metrics, not for managing Contacts/Leads/Opps. While it might be different for your Org, Lead conversion into Account/Contacts is something that happens from the Lead/Contact.
