Here's my situation:

I created two custom report types.  One starting with the Leads table and adding Opportunity fields, and the other starting with Opportunities table and adding Lead information.  My end goal is reporting on contribution to pipeline amounts between sales and marketing leads.  If I take the leads report and pull over opportunity information, that will only give me the contribution to pipeline for converted leads.  Since sales can create opportunities without first having a lead, my contribution percentage is off using the lead table method (because it excludes opportunity pipeline amount from sales-generated opportunities).  In order to get the total opportunity pipeline, I would need to start with the Opportunity table and add lead information in a custom report type, correct?

Well my first attempt at the two reports are attached in a screenshot below.  The left report is showing the lead table with converted information (I’ve filtered for “test4444” just to do some testing).  It shows lead type, Oppty Amount, # Converted, etc.  The report on the right is another custom report type that starts with Opportunities and adds lead information.  I’ve filtered for “test4444” and pulled over Lead ID, Name, Lead Type, etc. yet those don’t populate in the Opportunity report.  Do you know why this is?  Is there a way to update the join on these so it can reference these values that exist?

Any feedback is appreciated.  Thanks,

Matt

I'd recommend creating custom fields on the Lead and Opportunity/Account  and mapping the custom Lead fields to the custom Opportunity/Account fields.  Then using a regular Opportunity report you'll be able to see how many Opportunties/Account came via converted Leads and how many were created as new Accounts/Opportunties.
