Salesforce for Twitter - "Following" for Direct Message

Is it possible to tell if the author of a tweet is following you prior to composing a Direct Message to them? Is there any indicator that someone is following you?

I do see that you get an error message if you try to send a DM to someone that's not following you, but it would be nice to know up front.
