How come on a lead, I cannot choose the "Related to" field drop down in the Log A Call, Task or Event pages?

Salesforce commented on the idea 21 days ago and basically said, not gonna happen. I really only want to associate a follow up task with the campaign. My process creates a follow up task after a webinar for both leads and contacts. Contact tasks are exactly what we want. Leads are so close I can taste it, but no Related To. It seems a waste, but I think I might have to use Steve Mo's suggestion about creating a look up field.
