Hi Design Trailblazers!๐ŸŒŸ

Iโ€™m Justin Maguire, and I am Salesforceโ€™s first Chief Design Officer. I lead our product teams and connect the dots between the different design groups inside of Salesforce. But deep down, Iโ€™m really a maker whoโ€™s passionate about creative problem solving and creating experiences that elevate the human condition.

Weโ€™ve been doing a lot of research recently, and are learning thatโ€”even if not all of you would call yourselves โ€œDesignersโ€โ€”thereโ€™s tons of design work happening all across the Salesforce ecosystem. What you do to help your organizations get the most out of Salesforce and improving peopleโ€™s experience on the platform has enormous impact. Honestly, itโ€™s what allows this ecosystem to thrive.

Thereโ€™s a lot going on in the world these days. Technology and business are reacting to a combination of powerful forces that require us to think and work differently. We are more connected, generating more data, receiving more feedback, and working with more powerful tools than ever before. Employees and consumers are (rightfully) demanding more social accountability, and โ€œbusiness as usualโ€ is no longer viable. Design practices can help us navigate through all this change, and weโ€™re eager to share our tips and tools to design the future of work, technology, and the world.

As you know, Salesforce is all about relationships. The relationships we have with our customers, our fellow employees, and our wider communities. We believe that relationships are key to strong and successful businesses. And design can help us build them.

Thatโ€™s why weโ€™re introducing the next evolution of design, that keeps relationships at the heart of technology and business. We call this practice, Relationship Design. And in the coming months (and years!) weโ€™ll be sharing everything we know about designing for great relationships.

To start with, we have a brand new blog post introducing Relationship Design! Check it out here https://www.salesforce.com/blog/how-relationship-design-works/?bc=DB

Weโ€™ll also be launching a Relationship Design module on Trailhead next month, and building out a full curriculum and certification to help everyone in our ecosystem design relationship-centered experiences on the Salesforce platform. Stay tuned for more updates on that.

I am so excited to connect with you all, and to learn from all of you as we continue down this path.

I look forward to working togetherโ€”Building relationships. By design.

Cheers,

Justin
