Issues with Picklist Choices and the new Component Visibility feature in Flow

Wondering if anyone has figured out how to proceed in a screen where a Picklist choice is hidden via component visibility in flow. I have two Picklist fields that are irrelevant unless a certain box is checked, but Flow is complaining that it has to be set to 'true'. I'm not using these in any DML after the screen so I am not sure why Flow is complaining.

I get the following error (regardless of the default choice): 

None: Whether a choice is selected can only be set to true. Choices that aren't selected shouldn't be included in the request. An administrator needs to resolve this error.
