Hi all! We have a business requirement from a team that handles tenders to have a library so that they can store their documents. The library functionality in Classic was a good match but now, we've made the transition to Lightning and not all the features in Classic are available in Lightning. The main one, and a real deal-breaker, is the ability to the filter in search results. For example: You search on the tag "employability" and in Classic, you are able to select more tags that the file should match or the type of file (pdf/word/etc). Besides that, in the search results, you were able to see the number of downloads, the type of file and the rating. All useful columns.

These are my questions:

  1. Is there a way in Lightning to have the filtering on library search results?
  2. How does SF look at this functionality? Will Lightning ever have a library functionality like Classic?
  3. Is it recommended to setup libraries and let the team use it in Classic? They are willing to switch between Lightning and Classic, as long as Classic libraries will remain a working product for 2-3 years.\

Looking forward to your responses, thank you.

Jos

    Hi all,

I'm still facing the same issues that are described here while working on migrating our set of users from Classic to Lightning. We have historically used the Salesforce Libraries a lot to store all of Sales and Marketing files for the Sales team. We have several tags in Classic and the Sales team uses the search function within a specific library a lot to find specific files they are looking at.

I still haven't found a resolution for the same issues that were brought up back in 2018 here. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get around this today? Do we still need to build something custom for this? @Michael Lupino, I'm curious what you built for this.

Is there any AppExchange app that someone would recommend or does anyone know if Salesforce will be enhancing the search capability in specific Libraries?
