Why Use Tableau Pulse?

Maybe you’re not a data analyst (and maybe you don’t want to be, or simply don’t have time to be!). As a business professional, your work supports critical functions of your organization, such as marketing, sales, finance, or HR. Although “data” or “analyst” might not be in your job title, you still need to make data-informed decisions on a regular basis to make better decisions for your team and business.

A well-meaning data analyst in your organization might suggest diving into dashboards they’ve built in Tableau. While there’s no denying the powerful capabilities of Tableau, you rarely use it in your line of work and don’t have the time to become an expert user.

Instead of sifting through dashboards of data, Tableau Pulse takes a snippet of data that’s relevant to you and delivers it directly to the collaboration tools you already use (such as Slack and email).

With Tableau Pulse, you get a personalized digest that regularly delivers insights to you. Backed by Tableau AI, which is built on the Einstein Trust Layer, you get a trusted, ethical, and open AI-powered experience without compromising data security and privacy. Tableau Pulse gives you intelligent insights about the data you follow and provides natural language guidance that draws your attention to data points and changes in data that are worth investigating. It enables you to harness the power of data—without a degree in data science!

A Day in the Life Using Tableau Pulse

Let’s take a look at what your workflow can look like using Tableau Pulse.

On a typical weekday morning, you receive a new email from Tableau Pulse that reveals an unexpected change to a key metric that's important to your team’s success. The email provides a clear summary, alerting you to the trend. Motivated to understand the cause, you decide to dig deeper by asking a question about your data. You want to know what’s driving this trend so you can understand what to do to address it. With a few easy clicks, you have the data and insights you need to make confident, informed business decisions.

After you receive these insights, you want to ensure your colleagues are on the same page. With a few more simple clicks, you can share a link to the metric on Slack or Microsoft Teams, and you can add your team members as metric followers to share the insights.

Take Your Data to Go

As you now know, Tableau Pulse delivers your data in Slack and email. If you’re using Tableau Mobile and have a Tableau Cloud license, you can also access your Tableau Pulse metrics and insights in the Tableau Mobile app. With a single click, you can go from your Tableau Pulse metrics digests in Slack and email, to the Tableau Pulse on Mobile exploration page. From the exploration page, you can dig deeper into the data—on your phone, wherever your busy work day takes you—and then share the insights back to Slack with just a couple of taps.
