Discover Employee Channel Integrations

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Identify the three employee-facing channels supported by Agentforce IT Service.
  • Describe the key capabilities and setup considerations for Slack, Microsoft Teams, and the Employee Services Portal.
  • Select the appropriate employee channel based on an organization’s existing collaboration environment.

Meet Your Employees Where They Work

In the previous unit, you discovered the two-layer integration model that powers Agentforce IT Service. Now, let’s zoom in on layer 1: the channels where your workforce interacts with your AI agents.

Chances are, your employees already spend their day collaborating in either Slack or Microsoft Teams—widely recognized as the two of the leading enterprise messaging platforms today. To provide a frictionless IT experience, your employees shouldn’t have to hunt for a separate help desk URL. You want to meet them where they already work.

That’s why Agentforce IT Service supports three primary employee-facing channels.

  • Slack
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Employee Services Portal

Let’s explore in a bit more depth how each one fits into your organization’s environment.

Slack: The Native Channel

Slack is a workplace collaboration and communication platform that connects people, conversations, data, and business applications in one place. It helps teams communicate, collaborate, and act more efficiently. If your organization runs on Slack, your IT agent is already where your employees work. Slack represents the deepest native integration in Agentforce IT Service, bringing conversational AI right into your channels and direct messages.

When you deploy the Slack channel, employees message the Agentforce Employee Agent to ask questions, request hardware, or get troubleshooting help. The integration supports actionable notifications (also known as adaptive cards), so your employees can reply to ticket updates or confirm resolutions with a single click.

Microsoft Teams Integration

If your organization already uses Microsoft Teams, we have you covered. There’s no need for your workforce to learn a new tool or break their daily habits. Instead, you can integrate Agentforce IT Service directly into your existing setup, which lets employees submit requests and receive updates without ever leaving the app.

The Microsoft Teams channel provides an AI-powered collaborative workspace for your IT employees and support teams. Your employees benefit from a familiar, conversational interface to log tickets while your IT team and managers can handle approvals and notifications right inside Microsoft Teams. It also gives your support reps access to infrastructure dependencies and configuration items (CIs) within the Microsoft Teams interface.

After a simple back-and-forth conversation in Microsoft Teams, the AI agent logs a new ticket to get the employee the exact help they need.

Take a Brief Detour to the Fulfiller Hub

While the primary focus of this badge is on the employee experience, your IT reps need a place to manage the work. That is where the Fulfiller Hub comes in.

Available in both the Slack and Microsoft Teams integrations, the Fulfiller Hub acts as a command center for your support teams. Rather than constantly switching back-and-forth to the main Salesforce console, IT reps can manage their ticket queues, update record statuses, and initiate swarms on complex issues without leaving their collaborative workspace. To explore how this command center operates within these specific apps, check out the Slack and Microsoft Teams badges linked in the Resources section.

The Employee Services Portal

Do you have users who aren’t on your company’s Slack or Teams instances? Enter the Employee Services Portal.

This channel lets employees interact with IT agents via a browser-based self-service portal without relying on a specific collaboration app. This portal is the perfect fit for external contractors, kiosk-style access on a manufacturing floor, or organizations that want a highly customized, branded self-service experience. You can use the Unified Catalog and knowledge base to provide a single front door for all employee needs.

Note

Unified Catalog and Service Catalog

You might find Service Catalog referenced in other Agentforce IT Service content—this refers to the catalog of requestable IT items that is part of the broader Unified Catalog.

Choose the Right Channel

So, which channel is right for you? It all depends on your organization’s existing messaging and collaboration environment. Review this comparison table to help you select the best fit.

Channel

Best Fit

Key Capability

Slack

Organizations that natively run on Slack

Deepest native integration for conversational AI and actionable notifications

Microsoft Teams

Organizations standardized on Microsoft tools

Streamlined approvals, notifications, and CI visibility within Microsoft Teams

Employee Services Portal

Users not on Slack or Microsoft Teams, external contractors, or kiosk access

Browser-based access with no chat application dependency

What’s Next?

Now that you understand how employees reach agents through these three distinct channels, it’s time to explore how those agents take action in the external systems IT depends on. In the next unit, you learn about the backend functionality of MuleSoft for Flow connectors.
