Hi Tableau fellas, hope you are safe and doing well.

I want to calculate a price range's sales value's growth compared to previous years total sales. This should give me the contribution of that range's sales growth to total growth, like how much of this years growth came from that range.

Formula is like;

( Price Range A's 2019 Sales - Price Range A's 2018 Sales) / (Total 2018 Sales)

Here you can see the table we are working on;

How to Calculate Contribution to Growth Percentage Compared to Previous Year's Data

Here is our failed trial of calculated field;

And also maybe we should calculate this field on our source excel data, is that better, or are there better ways to do it inside of Tableau. We don't want to go back to our excel and play with our raw data unless we must do it.

Thanks in advance, #stayhome

    If I understand you fully, you can re-write your calculation to the following,

    (ZN(SUM([Value])) - LOOKUP(ZN(SUM([Value])), -1)) / {SUM(IF YEAR([Date])=2018 THEN [Value] END)}

1st Virtual CTA-601 Architect Workshop Completed!

It's a wrap! We were overwhelmed with the turnout and response from the first virtual CTA-601 Architect Workshop that concluded last week!

Great discussions, diagrams, and lessons learned.....Here are some comments from the candidates!

"Participation in the Virtual CTA-601 Architect Workshop helped to formulate the detailed step-by-step preparation plan for Review Board exam."

- Igor Chtivelband

"Excellent experience with one training day spread out over three days - very efficient to not have to travel :-)"

- Peter Frandsen

More Workshops?

Is there more? YES! - we have many more offerings for everyone through May and into June. Look for our updates monthly on dates. If you have completed both your Application and System Architect credentials and are interested in continuing on your #JourneyToCTA  - this is the perfect workshop for you to continue learning #WorkshopFromHome.  Look for the link on the left-hand side of this community as well for easy reference.

Many many thanks to the entire (and amazing) Architect team for doubling down to get everything available to the Architect Trailblazer Community so quickly!

Stay well and safe - #StayHome ❤️
