I have published extract and workbook to tableau online and after downloading it to edit some formulas I only have "edit copy" option instead of "edit" on every formula. After some googling I have found information that "edit copy" appears because calcs that are saved in the published extract cannot be edited.

How can I move all calcs that are saved in the extract to the workbook so I can edit them normally?

Why are my calculated fields saved by default in published extract instead of workbook? Can I change this? I am just clicking analysis>create calculated field, there are no options to choose where I want to save my calcs so for some reason it implicitly is decided that I want to save in the extract which makes working with calcs much harder than it needs to be.

Alternatively, can I somehow edit the formulas from the online menu? I can see "formula" window but I don't have any option to edit itHow can I move calculated fileds from published extract to the workbook.

Thank you

The idea is that if a data source is "LIVE", nobody can do changes in the calculations and Tableau ensure that.

Extracts are better in this case. You need to make sure you publish with the extract embedded in the dashboard.

It shouldn't duplicate the data - you need to switch data from one DS to DS Copy and after remove the live one. (close)

    thanks
