I have Tableau (2019.1) set up on ext-tab.DOMAIN.com (1.1.1.1).

I have setup TRUSTED AUTHENTICATION and set my APPLICATION server as a trusted server. As of now, I am able to render the Dashboard from my APPLICATION by communicating to ext-tab.DOMAIN.com/

I have setup Citric NetScaler in front of my tableu server and which is exttab.DOMAIN.io(2.2.2.2) and also set up SSL offloading. On tableau server, I have not enable/install SSL. All communication is happening through HTTP.

So Client makes an https request to https://exttab.DOMAIN.io and LB do SSL offloading and send a request to ext-tab.DOMAIN.com

I followed this article (https://onlinehelp.tableau.com/current/server/en-us/distrib_lb.htm) and setup load balancer configuration as below.

{

"configKeys": {

"gateway.public.host": " exttab.DOMAIN.io ",

"gateway.public.port": "443",

"gateway.trusted": "2.2.2.2",

"gateway.trusted_hosts": " exttab.DOMAIN.io  "

}

}

I have also setup below in my NetScaler

  • X-Forwarded-For
  • X-Forwarded-Host - SYS.NSIP
  • X-Forwarded-Proto - "https"

With the above configuration, I am not able to render the Dashboard from my web application. When I am requesting ticket (https://onlinehelp.tableau.com/current/server/en-us/trusted_auth_webrequ.htm) to LB server then it is giving me "-1". If I request ticket to the actual server then it is giving me the correct ticket.

Any help would be appreciated.

Note: I have set up one node Tableau server.

    Hi Everyone,

    I was about to successfully render the Tableau dashboard through Netscaler load balancer.

    For that, I perform the following steps.

    As per tableau documentation, I set up the load balancer configuration with this link https://onlinehelp.tableau.com/current/server/en-us/distrib_lb.htm

    I set up following header in my Netscaler, As Erick mentioned in NetScaler Load Balancer Configuration  I setup rewrite rule in Netscaler.

    • X-Forwarded-For
    • X-Forwarded-Host - HTTP.REQ.HOSTNAME
    • X-Forwarded-Proto - "http"

    by doing the above configuration, I was able to render the Tableau Dashboard in my Application (.NET Core).
