I have been tasked with trying to determine what fields (Mandatory and Optional) should still be used / present on set Objects, however I am getting conflicting evidence as to what fields are actually mandatory vs optional, I've checked Fields & Relationships, Validation Rules and Schema Builder and all are giving me conflicting evidence, I've also used a pre-built "Field Trips" report which is telling me only 19 Fields are considered required out of 517 which we know to be incorrect.
Is there a place to get a definitive answer on what fields are mandatory and which are optional?
Hello @Harry Dunn clone a sandbox from your production instance, and try cleaning up some fields based on Field Trip reports, and test the integrity of the sandbox then with non regression testing then. You may use HappySoup, Org check, or other tools to see where fields are used ; you may even create a VS Code project with all relevant kinds of metadata in the manifest, retrieve them all from the instance to your VS Code project, and do some CTRL+F search operations to validate if needed to double check before deletion.
