section of the New Contact page layout includes fields for First Gift Date, Last Gift Date, Average Gift, Best Year, Last Gift Amount, Largest Gift, Smallest Gift, and Best Gift Year Total.
What should be expected behavior with respect to these fields in NPSP3? If my client is entering a new contact record for a donor who has some history with the organization, can they put a value into these fields to establish a baseline (other than 0 or null) from which NPSP3 will use as a starting point for summing future totals?

@David Habib, thanks. That makes sense. One of the folks at my client noticed them today too, but I had temporarily configured his profile to have the same privileges as mine, with the plan to scale it back as I wrap up the deployment and fine-tune what they want his access rights to be.
