I have a report that buckets opportunity stages into 2 categories. Show and No Show. I would like to display the Show Rate on our dashboard (Show / Total of Show and No Shows).
Any ideas how to do this?
I'm thinking a summary formula, but since the stages are in a picklist I can't create a formula.
I also tried putting a dependent field on the opp based on the stage to get a number that I could then total and divide in a report, but that didn't seem to work as I hoped either.

I'm afraid a custom formula field on the Opp would be the best option here (provided you really want to display that value on dashboard). I would suggest creating a field with TEXT function, which would convert picklist value from the Stage field, meaning: TEXT(StageName).
Then you could use this field in a report and create row-level formula (with IF or CASE function), and summary formula based on that and a record count. Alternatively, you could specify on the field level, when it should be categorized as "Show" or "No show", but it's a less flexible solution.
