I'm not sure what the best option would be.  For example, if we found out a major construction project was happening in our area that several of our customers could be bidding on, we would like to have one record that identifies the generic project.  From there, we would like to create multiple opportunities related back to that project.

I thought Campaigns might be the best place to start, but I'm concerned about opening up the Marketing Campaigns tab to the sales reps.  From what I've read, you cannot create new Campaigns unless you are a Marketing user.

Is there another object in Salesforce that might be the better fit?

Thank you, Himanshu!  I really thought the Campaign would be the way to go, but what I don't know is what is the downside to enabling "marketing user" for sales reps?  I'm concerned about the privileges it might give them.  I'm not as familiar with the marketing user capabilities yet.  We've only been working in Salesforce for about 5 months, so I'm nervous about opening up capabilities I'm unaware of.
