Autofill a text box unless changed

I am looking to find a way that will autofill a text box based on the formal greeting field. However, if I manually change it to something else, I don't want the formal greeting to override what was manually entered. For example, if the account is for a Mr Jon & Mrs. Jane Doe that is what would appear in the formal greeting box, I want to to autofill in the recognize as field. However, let's say they would rather be recognized as The Doe Family, I would like to be able to manually change it without having the formal greeting overwriting my manual changes dfown the road.

    We tried doing the process builder and it's not performing correctly. It will autofill the "recognized as" field pulling from the "formal Greeting" field. However, if I attempt to make any sort of manual change to the "recognize as" field it will not recogjhize it and it reverts back to using the "formal greeting" field.
