Dashboard Gauge

I want to use the dashboard gague to keep track of the amount of money that we have raised so far in the fiscal year. I want the gague maximum to be set to our yearly budget. The only problem is when I try to format reports that will give me the total amount of $$ raised and I use the summary report to sort by amount, the graph only shows a summary of the # or records, not the total $$ raised. How can I fix the way that I am formatting the report so that the gague can display the amount of funds we've raised so far this fiscal year?

    Thanks for the advice. Although I can find SUM while the data is in the tabular format, I cannot while it's in the summary format which is the format I need for the data to be compatable with the graphing function. The problem is that now the graph is using the Record Count as the x axis and the amount as the y. I just want to have the total sum of the donations gagued against our yearly budget so that users can log in and see how much money we have raised so far. Below is a screenshot of the graph that I can make, but it's not the gague... Hi Adam, Thanks for the advice.
