ex. Display picklist that will contain ItemCategory. user can select ItemCategory from picklist.

Hello Briju,
I'm assuming that you want to create a Picklist field on a custom objectFollowing are the steps
- Goto --> Setup --> custom Object
- Click on your object (the object you want to create the field on)
- Scroll to Custom Fields & Relationships --> click new
- Select The datatype of Field as Picklist (lets you select one value) / Multi Select Picklist (lets you select multiple values) --> click next
- Enter the Name of the Picklist and Enter the values the picklist will hold, Click next
- Select The who will see the picklist, click next
- Select which page layouts the field will be visible , Save !
There you go !
