My boss wants to know the last time all of our accounts contacted us, to insure that we are following up with them all and hearing back from them every 6 months.
The end goal is to generate a report that gives the following information: We last emailed the account on date X and someone from the account last emailed us on date X.
Also perhaps making a formula field that says that this customer is "active" or "not active".
I'm not sure how to look this info up as there dosn't seem to be a way to filter inbound emails from outbound emails.
(we use linkpoint to record emails from outlook to SF.)
Any help would be great!

EmailMessage is only tagged to Case. So, if you want to get all Case related to some account, you need to query to Account first to get their CaseId.
