How can I email the information on a task to a contact/lead?

Tasks are used as a sample request that sales reps put in for a contact/lead.  Custom fields were created for what we need to have full information on what sample and how many.  I then created a simple email template with those fields. 

 

On the task itself I don’t see any way to actually send an email – Switching to Classic and going to Setup -> Customize -> Activities -> Task Layout under “Mobile & Lightning Actions” I see an ‘email’ field and I have put that into the only area it will allow me to (under the sub header “Salesforce Mobile and Lightening Experience Actions” but that doesn’t change anything.

 

If I try to go to the contact/lead and go under Activity -> Email I can insert the template I made but no information pulls from the task (nor would I expect it to).

    Hi Melissa,

     

    Unfortunately, it is not possible to send email from task or send the details of the task to leads or contacts through UI but you might want to try using triggers for sending that email.
