Meg, yes you can add a hyperlink to your HTML and text only templates. In the text only version, it will show the entire link address, but in the HTML version you can have a link which is represented by a set of words such as this: Click Here to be taken to the Salesforce Homepage!
To add a link represented by a set of words, highlight the words that will become the link, and in the toolbar of the template page, click the link icon (represented by two links of chain). Enter the URL that the user should be directed to and click OK. That is it!
When you copy of the body of the HTML to the Text form, the URL will appear as if you copied it from the browser and pasted it into the form. Some re-formatting will be necessary here to ensure that the link is placed in the correct position.
