How to establish persistent connection between active mq and MuleSoft. in case active mq goes down in between.

We are using "on new message" JMS connector for active mq.

we have configured reconnection as "forever".

however, we observed that whenever active mq server goes down, and starts running after few mins, MuleSoft application is not being able to established the connection back and number of consumers on active mq also changed to 0 even though mule application is up and running.
