Want to know the latest nonprofit trends? Find out in the 5th edition of the Nonprofit Trends Report!

In partnership with research agency Reputation Leaders Ltd., this year we surveyed over 1,600 nonprofit professionals across seven countries and found five key themes:

  1. Nonprofits met or exceeded their top goals and are optimistic despite challenges
  2. Retaining employees is a big issue for nonprofits
  3. Nonprofits have room to improve on DEI and sustainability
  4. Digitally mature nonprofits' work cultures outperform their peers
  5. Nonprofits view digital transformation as critical, yet few are “very satisfied” with their technology

Some top stats: As we found in the third edition of this report in 2020, digitally mature NGOs exceed their goals. For example:

  • 3.5x more likely to have exceeded mission goals (38% vs. 11%)
  • 3.4x more likely to have exceeded volunteering goals (27% vs 8%)
  • 2x more likely to have exceeded program goals (34% vs. 17%)
  • 1.8x more likely to have exceeded fundraising goals (33% vs. 18%)

A high level of digital maturity means a nonprofit is:

  • 3.5x more likely to have highly motivated employees (46% vs. 13%)
  • 1.7x more likely to report a healthy organizational culture (77% vs. 46%)
  • 1.7x more likely to be optimistic about the future of the organization (77% vs. 44%)
