Sumeet Vaid ha preguntado en #Data Management

We are a financial planning firm (B2C Model) based out of Mumbai.  We are planning to give some support to our customer based on the services offered. So they need to see things like portfolio (i.e. stocks and mutual funds) performance over the period.  Now one option for us is to give them a customer portal license or build the same through sites as the customer portal license fees are very high. My questions are the following:

·         Can I give proper username and passwords to each of my customer so that they can see their respective portfolios?

·         Can they login cases just like the way they would do in case of Customer Portal?

·         Are the following features also available through sites

o   Ideas (This will be internal. As in, all our current customers should be able to share ideas)

o   Answers (This will be internal. As in, all our current customers should be able to share answers)

o   Content Management (Workspaces)

o   Is the report feature also available through sites

o   Apart from things like portfolio, purchase history, sales history (which are basically custom objects), there will be user specific data on each customer’s page – like personal information, passport number etc. can we also expose these things through sites?

More importantly how difficult or easy will it be to build this on the force.com platform?

Answer to these questions will really help.

If I am not mistaken Sites and Portals go hand in hand. Meaning you need the Customer Portal in order to display it (Ideas, Answers, Content etc) on Sites.
