Work with Financial Deal Management

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to: 

  • Create a financial deal.
  • Create a financial deal party.
  • Create a financial deal product.
  • Add an interaction summary to a financial deal.
  • Share a financial deal record using CDS.

Create a Financial Deal

Rob is excited to try Financial Deal Management. He starts with the basics and creates a deal record for the Dorjelean acquisition.

  1. Click App Launcher.
  2. In the search box, enter deals and select Financial Deals.
  3. In the New Financial Deal window, provide the following information.
    1. Name: Dorjelean Kitchen Acquisition
    2. Account: Northern Trail Outfitters (NTO)
    3. Financial Deal Type: Mergers and Acquisitions
    4. (Optional) Fill in other details.The New Financial Deal window.
  4. Click Save.

Create a Financial Deal Party

Next, Rob adds Dorjelean Kitchen as a party to the acquisition deal.

  1. Click App Launcher.
  2. In the search box, enter parties and select Financial Deal Parties.
  3. Click New.
  4. In the New Financial Deal Party window, provide the following information.
    1. Party: Dorjelean Kitchen
    2. Financial Deal: Dorjelean Kitchen Acquisition
    3. Party Type: CompanyThe New Financial Deal Party window.
  5. Click Save.

Create a Financial Deal Product

A financial deal product is the service provided to the client. As Cumulus is providing advisory services to NTO, Rob adds the service as a financial deal product.

  1. Click App Launcher.
  2. In the search box, enter products and select Financial Deal Products.
  3. Click New.
  4. In the New Financial Deal Product window, provide the following information.
    1. Financial Deal: Dorjelean Kitchen Acquisition
    2. In the Product field, select + New Product.
    3. In the New Product window, provide the following information.
      1. Product Name: Merger and Acquisition Advisory
      2. Select Active.
      3. (Optional) Fill in other details.The New Product window.
      4. Click Save.
    4. Back in the New Financial Deal Product window, click Save.

Add an Interaction Summary to the Financial Deal

Rob just returned from an important meeting with the NTO management and wants to capture the key discussion points and next steps. So he adds an interaction summary to the Dorjelean acquisition deal record.

  1. Click App Launcher.
  2. In the search box, enter deals and select Financial Deals.
  3. Open the Dorjelean Kitchen Acquisition record.
  4. On the Interaction Summaries component, click New.
  5. In the New Interaction Summary window, provide the following information.
    1. Title: Dorjelean Kitchen Acquisition Call Report
    2. In the Interaction field, click + New Interaction.
    3. In the New Interaction window, provide the following information.
      1. Name: NTO Meet and Greet
      2. Account: Northern Trail Outfitters (NTO)
      3. (Optional) Fill in other fields.
      4. Click Save.
  6. Back in the New Interaction Summary window, in the Account field, select Northern Trail Outfitters (NTO).
  7. (Optional) Fill in other details.The New Interaction Summary window.
  8. Click Save.

Share a Financial Deal

Rob wants Charlie Melly, the analyst in the team, to do some market research on Dorjelean Kitchen and share a report on it. But before Charlie gets started, Rob must share the acquisition details safely with him. Thanks to Matt and CDS, this is already set up.

Here’s how Rob shares the Dorjelean Kitchen acquisition record with Charlie using CDS.

  1. Click App Launcher.
  2. In the search box, enter deals and select Financial Deals.
  3. Open the Dorjelean Kitchen Acquisition record.
  4. In the Share Financial Deal component, click Add.
  5. In the Add Financial Deal Participants window, provide the following information.
    1. You can share a financial deal with either a user or group. Rob is sharing the acquisition record with Charlie. So, in the Users or Groups picklist, select User.
    2. Search for and select Charlie Melly.The Add Financial Deal Participants window with Charlie Melly added in the Selected Users or Groups section.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Select the Analyst role and then Active.The Add Financial Deal Participants window with Charlie Melly’s role selected.
  8. Click Finish.
Note

You can also share a financial deal using the Financial Deal Participants Related List. But you can share it with only one participant (user or group) at a time. For more information, see Share a Financial Deal from the Financial Deal Participants Related List in the Salesforce admin guide.
